Get Fighting Fit in your 50's


A class for people in their 50's or older is the latest on offer at Hebden Bridge Boxing Club, recently taken over by Kate Dakers of Box 4 Fitness and Head Coach Clayton 'Cass' Varey.

The class launches on Monday 14 February and the team at the boxing club invite all those 50 or over to get gloved up on Valentines Day and try a bit of non-contact boxing training.

Participants can enjoy all the benefits of boxing without the bruises, hitting only focus pads and punch bags. The sessions will be led by ABA Boxing Tutor, Rachael Smith who has been boxing for over 2 years.

'I never imagined I'd get into the sport of boxing but once I tried it out for the fitness, I got the bug and never looked back. It's a fantastic workout, especially if you are the type of person who is easily bored by solo gym routines or regular classes' said Rachael.

Many people are intimidated at the thought of going to a boxing club so specialised classes such as Fighting Fit 50's and the women's only Boxercise classes have been created to encourage participation by all members of the community.
